Dina pays Tamer Husni a special visit in prison
Posted: 27-08-2006 , 00:40 GMT

Controversial Egyptian belly dancer Dina recently paid a visit to Egyptian singer Tamer Husni in prison.  Tamer is currently serving a jail sentence for forging legal papers in an effort to avoid military service. dina

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Dina’s visit lifted Tamer’s spirits as she assured him that he has not been forgotten by his fans and his friends from inside and outside the entertainment world.

Dina told Tamer that her visit was delayed due to her hectic schedule filled with different dance performances in Egypt and around the Arab world.

Despite the physical and psychological hardships Husni has faced since his imprisonment, sources revealed that he is taking advantage of his time in jail by working on new entertainment projects, which he plans to start once he is released.

Tamer’s sentence expires in September, although he and his family are pushing for an early release.

He wrote three screenplays while incarcerated, and has even secured the cast and crew of the film “Kul Sana Wi Inta Habibi” (Every Year and You are My Lover), that he will resume filming once free.

Tamer is optimistic about the success of the film, especially after the support he has received from his fans since he began his sentence.

He has also composed a new song, especially for the holy month of Ramadan.  If all goes well, Tamer will be able to record it before the start of the holy month.

Tamer was convicted by a military court and sentenced to a one year prison term, along with friend Haitham Shaker, for forging official papers to avoid military service. A third accomplice, who actually forged the papers, received a five-year prison term.

The courthouse was filled with family, friends, and fans at the hearing, all praying for the judge’s leniency.  Tamer’s lawyer appealed the verdict to try and decrease the sentence. The maximum sentence is up to three years for forging official documents.

On a different note, Dina’s last television appearance was in the Ramadan drama series “Raya and Iskyna” starring Egyptian actors Abla Kamel and Summaya Al Khashab. The drama is based on the folktale of two sisters who killed women and stole their jewelry.

Director Jamal Abdul Hamid had chosen Dina to play the role of a woman who is accused of acting as an accomplice to murder.  Rumors claim that Dina demanded a high salary and wanted her name to appear at the beginning of the credits.  Dina denied that she presented a set of demands before accepting the part.
